Compassionate Inquiry
“Compassionate Inquiry® is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world.
Using Compassionate Inquiry, both the individual and therapist unveil the level of consciousness, mental climate, hidden assumptions, implicit memories and body states that form the real message that words both express and conceal.
Through Compassionate Inquiry, we can recognize the unconscious dynamics that run our lives and how to liberate ourselves from them.”
To find out more about Compassionate Inquiry, please visit the Compassionate Inquiry website.
“The purpose of Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories people tell themselves – to get them to see what story they are telling themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from; and guide them to the possibility of letting go of those stories, or letting go of the hold those stories have on them…
That’s what Compassionate Inquiry is.”
~ Dr. Gabor Maté
Yogic/Vedic Teachings
Simran has extensive experience and training in the Yogic/Vedic sciences and she is a certified Yoga and Meditation Teacher. Ayurveda, a natural system of medicine, originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge).
Simran brings these ancient Yogic/Vedic teachings from the meditation cushion to the therapy session, allowing you to deeply connect to your body and soul in the present moment, thus enabling you to hear the truth and wisdom being shared.
Self-Forgiveness & Self-Love
Adopted from the Course of Miracles and Choose Again Teachings, this approach weaves together the compassion and forgiveness for that young part of ourselves that believed what is simply not true. In this approach, we allow our adult selves to actively forgive our younger part for holding onto these mistaken beliefs. In this process, we fall deeply in love with ourselves. Once we have unwavering self-love, we acquire the ability to honour, respect and care for ourselves 100%, thereby completely changing our lives.
Internal Family Systems
“Internal Family Systems is a powerfully transformative, evidence-based model of psychotherapy. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Our inner parts contain valuable qualities and our core Self knows how to heal, allowing us to become integrated and whole. In IFS all parts are welcome.
IFS is a movement. A new, empowering paradigm for understanding and harmonizing the mind and, thereby, larger human systems. One that can help people heal and helps the world become a more compassionate place.”

Psycho-Spiritual Methodology
You will experience a holistic model of healing, incorporating the divine within and outside of you, providing you deep clarity and self-empowerment. In this approach, you will experience connection to your soul/essence, begin to understand the realm of spirit, deepen your intuition and raise your consciousness. This model offers you access to information about your ancestors, allowing you to address intergenerational trauma and epigenetics. In the psycho-spiritual approach, Simran works with quieting the mind as well as knowing beyond the mind.
Please note: A full 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel any appointment.
Therapy FAQs
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
The first session will involve an assessment. Simran will review basic information, including your contact information and the limits of confidentiality. Then, the focus is for Simran to get to know you, and vice-versa. Simran will also ensure that you have an understanding about the approaches that she utilizes. You will have an opportunity to speak directly about your intention for therapy and what it is that you would like to change. If time allows, you will start working specifically on your intention in the first session.
What can I expect from subsequent therapy sessions?
You will take a journey with Simran. Each session will begin with a specific intention that will guide the journey forward. The sessions are geared to the pace that is comfortable for you. The wisdom of your body and soul are utilized to uncover the roots of why you are experiencing your life as you are. With this awareness comes the agency to make change.
Is therapy confidential?
Discussions that occur in therapy are confidential with a few exceptions.* If you would like information to be disclosed to someone, you must give Simran written permission.
*Exceptions include:
- If Simran receives information from you that clearly indicates that you are at a high risk of seriously harming or killing yourself or someone else.
- If Simran receives information from you that clearly indicates that a child or children are being abused or neglected.
- If a court order is issued.
Am I covered under extended health benefits?
Coverage is possible because many plans provide coverage for therapy with Registered Social Workers. Check with your employer or provider and ask:
- Do I have coverage for counselling with a Registered Social Worker who has a bachelor degree in Social Work (BSW)?
- What is my total yearly coverage?
Full payment is due 24 hours prior to your session. Upon payment, you will be provided with a receipt that includes Simran’s registration number. You can submit this receipt for possible reimbursement. Simran is not responsible for any plan reimbursement issues.
